Room: 301 A & B
Tel: 718-340-4481

The Law School's Writing Center is part of a cross-curricular effort to help students develop and perfect the skills necessary to produce high-quality legal writing. A multipurpose service, the Writing Center offers workshops and tutoring with three highly-qualified Fellows, each of whom is a Ph.D. candidate with extensive writing experience. Additional offerings include strategies and techniques, exercises focusing on the terminology and conventions of legal writing, and the Writer's Forum, a showcase that facilitates members of the CUNY Law community in sharing ideas and reflections about lawyers and writing.

The purpose of the Writing Center is to serve as a resource for the entire CUNY Law School community. Through a variety of efforts, we strive to help students and faculty address the vital role of writing in the law school curriculum.

The Writing Center is staffed by Writing Fellows Kristen Van Hooreweghe, Ornaith O'Dowd and Shana Siegel. The Fellows are CUNY doctoral students who have been specially trained in the theory and teaching of rhetoric and composition. The Center is supervised by Susan Markus, director of the Legal Writing Center and Professor Andrea McArdle, the Law School's director of legal writing. Also assisting are 3Ls Alexandra Scholl and Eli Federman, who specialize in legal citation and "bluebooking".
