CLORE Spotlight: Cristian Farias '14
As a former freelance writer and reporter, Cristian A. Farias has long understood the importance of a well informed populous. Being fully bilingual and legally trained has allowed Cristian to fill the giant void for Spanish-language legal affairs writing and analysis that is desperately needed for a growing Latino audience.
His articles on Supreme Court decisions, gay rights, and community affairs issues like “stop-and-frisk” have been published in the Spanish-language newspaper El Diario.
In addition, as a result of his efforts, Mr. Farias has appeared on the Spanish-language political affairs show, Pura Politica, where he has discussed legal issues like Justice Sotomayor's dissent in the high-profile affirmative action case Schuette v. Bamn, and the "Latino vote" in the November 2014 elections.
Cristian's blog, Rights y Derechos, features his legal commentary in both English and Spanish, as well as English translations of articles appearing in El Diario.
