Worried about law school loans? Want to learn about new federal programs which promise debt relief for careers with non-profit organizations and government agencies? Then come to an informative workshop on a new law that can help you.
Heather Jarvis, Esq., Senior Program Manager for Law School Advocacy at Equal Justice Works, and Vice Chair of the ABA Section of Legal Education's Committee on Government Relations and Student Financial Aid, will present a workshop on the College Cost Reduction and Access Act (CCRAA),(initial bill passed September 2007), and the Higher Education Reauthorization and College Opportunity Act of 2008, new federal laws which offer amazing financial assistance to law school graduates, to civil legal services attorneys, and to criminal prosecutors, and defenders.
One income-based repayment program offers graduates who pursue public sector work after law school the ability to minimize their monthly payments immediately after graduation, and, be eligible for complete loan forgiveness in 10 years. Another program offers lowered monthly payments to low income earners, regardless of the type of employment. Still other programs offer forgiveness to practicing attorneys.
