Interdisciplinary Practice

Recognizing that clients often seek solutions to problems that are
multi-dimensional, a number of our clinics explore working with other
professionals as a way to better serve clients. The Battered Women’s Rights
Clinic, for example, is co-taught by a faculty member with a Masters of Social
Work who supervises MSW students from the Hunter College School of Social Work
who work and learn alongside the law students. Significant class and supervision
time is devoted to identifying the ethics, skills and practice of social
workers, the tasks that each profession is uniquely trained to perform, the
professional strains that may inhibit good client work, as well as addressing
collaboration perspectives that provide insight into all interdisciplinary
