Joe Rosenberg, Associate Professor, co-teaches the Elder Law Clinic, as
well as a first-year Lawyering Seminar and an elective in wills, trusts, and
estates. A graduate of Northwestern University, he was a member of CUNY School
of Law's inaugural class in 1986. After graduation, he worked as a staff
attorney for the Legal Aid Society of Northeastern New York in Albany,
specializing in government benefits, health law, and family law. He is active in
a number of professional organizations and has testified on elder abuse before
the Committee on Aging of the New York City Council. He is a member of the Board
of Directors of the Community Living Corporation, a not-for-profit organization
that provides housing and related services to adults with developmental
disabilities. His law review articles have been published in Loyola
University Chicago Law Journal and Boston University Law School Public
Interest Journal, and he is co-author of a New York practice treatise on
elder law.
Professor Rosenberg has made numerous presentations for
attorneys and consumers on elder law issues, including guardianships,
supplemental needs trusts, government benefits, and estate planning. His current
interests include exploring the use of on-line learning in his Lawyering Seminar
and expanding a clinic project to help protect the rights of indigent adults in
guardianship proceedings.
