Yvonne Cherena-Pacheco, Assistant Dean for Enrollment Management and
Director of Admissions, received her J.D. as a member of CUNY Law School's
inaugural class in 1986. After graduating from CUNY, she was a teaching clinical
fellow at the Center for Applied Legal Studies at the Georgetown University Law
Center, where she earned her LL.M. She became a member of the founding faculty
of the District of Columbia School of Law (DCSL) in 1988, co-teaching legal
research and writing. After establishing the consumer-law section of the Housing
and Consumer Law Clinic and co-founding the AIDS-HIV Legal Clinic at DCSL, she
taught in both Clinics and supervised students in housing and consumer cases.
She was a member of the Admissions Committee at DCSL and served as Chair for
several years.
For eight years she was Associate Dean and Director of
Admissions at St. Mary's University School of Law in San Antonio, Texas, where
she also directed and taught in a conditional admission program and co-taught a
course in jurisprudence. She returned to CUNY School of Law in late 2000 to
oversee the School of Law's admissions office.
