As a student or employee of CUNY School of Law, you are a subscriber
to the two community-wide listservs. Listservs are simply group emails.
When email is addressed to a listserv, it is sent to everyone who
subscribes to the list.
The two school-wide listservs are:
1) calendar@mail.law.cuny.edu (and 2) forum@mail.law.cuny.edu
Each of these listservs has a special function and notices may be posted to one or the other, but not both.
calendar@mail.law.cuny.edu provides the medium for all
members of the Law School to announce to the entire community, events
or deadlines that may be of interest. Messages for calendar are
restricted to information about activities, scholarships, employment
opportunities or other programs or events occurring both within and
outside of the Law School. The text should contain specific dates and,
when applicable, locations of the events.
You may receive messages from this list serve as they are posted, or
in two other ways. In "index" mode, you will receive just the headings
of all of the prior day's email in one message. In "digest" mode, you
will receive both the headings and the text of all of the prior day's
email in a single message. Instructions on how to change your
subscription to index or digest are found at the bottom of each
calendar message.
Because administrative offices in the Law School use "calendar" to
post messages for which community members may need to respond in a
timely manner, students, faculty and staff will NOT be able to unsubscribe from this listserv.
forum@mail.law.cuny.edu serves as an electronic "town
meeting" where subscribers can discuss, debate and introduce topics of
concern or general interest.
Similar to calendar@mail.law.cuny.edu, you can elect to receive
messages as they are posted or, if you would like, receive them in two
other ways: "index" or "digest" mode, as described in the preceding
paragraph. However, you are permitted to unsubscribe from "Forum."
The posting of messages on all Law School email accounts and the use
of all computer resources of CUNY are subject to the provisions of the
CUNY Computer User Responsibilities policy. Please refer to the current
CUNY School of Law Student Handbook for the complete text. PLEASE NOTE THAT COMPUTER RESOURCES MAY NOT BE USED FOR COMMERCIAL PURPOSES.
The Law School is committed to an email system that serves as as
important and essential communication medium. The CUNY Law email policy
continues to be a community product intended to balance opportunity for
discussion within the limitations of our available resources and an
individual's right to opt-out of certain kinds of unsolicited emails.
To preserve such a system requires that all members adhere to
guidelines and respect the rights and needs of others. Please help us
manage this essential resource.
Should you have any questions, you can address them to the Dean of Students.
