The Affordable Care Act is a Federal Law that requires everyone to have health insurance.  To apply for health insurance, please go to the New York State of Health website.

The next open enrollment period for the New York State of Health will be Nov. 1, 2015 to January 31, 2016. Students may apply outside of the enrollment period if you have a qualifying event. For a list of qualifying events, please go to

Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) provide free or low-cost coverage to millions of Americans, including some people with limited incomes, families and children, pregnant women, the elderly, and people with disabilities.  There’s no limited enrollment period for Medicaid or CHIP.  You can apply any time, even outside the Marketplace Open Enrollment period.

Office of CityWide Health Insurance Access

In collaboration with Human Resources Administration's Office of Citywide Health Insurance Access (OCHIA), facilitated enrollers are made available on campus offering New York State's Family Health Plus and Child Health Plus health insurance programs to eligible students.
