5 Before classes even begin, you will visit courtrooms across New York City and be asked: What does justice look like? Who is making it? Do you see justice being done? At CUNY Law, you’re encouraged to explore different paths. Right from the beginning, you’re educated through hands-on, experiential learning in a supportive environment. From day one, we question justice and provoke passion in order to develop excellent and creative lawyers. THE DAY-ONE DIFFERENCE ‘‘This imperative to use ingenuity in pursuing justice through the law is what ties together the CUNY experience. Even during their orientation period, beginning students visit real courtrooms. They are asked to watch and listen carefully and then to describe, to faculty and each other, what they haveseen.Theyareaskedpoint-blank whether they could discern justice being done. – Educating Lawyers: Preparation for the Profession of Law, The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching (2007) ‘‘ 4 5
