SUMMARY:Workshop for Asian American Pacific Islander and Middle Eastern and North African Women in the Legal Academy
DESCRIPTION:Build community\, support\, and mentor women aspiring to enter—or who are in—the legal academy. We’ll workshop incubators and works in progress\, explore our shared identities and history\, and dialogue about professional development and wellness. \nRegistration Deadline: October 5\, 2023 \nThis year the Workshop has a $125 registration fee to support the excellent programming. However\, for those who either do not have or have exhausted their professional development or travel budgets\, no-cost tickets are available now. \nThe Workshop has a limited amount of funds to provide travel assistance to join the Workshop. Priority will be given to those who do not have access to a travel budget at their home institution or organization to attend academic workshops and conferences. If you would like to be considered for a travel stipend\, please write to AAPIMENAWorkshop@gmail.com. Please state your position\, your institution or organization\, and your reason for requesting a stipend. Applications will be considered on a rolling basis\, with decisions generally communicated weekly in the order received as long as funding allows. \nMore details and a full schedule of AAPI-MENA Workshop events can be found on the Workshop’s dedicated page.

SUMMARY:New York Liberation School Book Talk
DESCRIPTION:Join CUNY Law and Political Economy Collective in conversation with Conor Tomás Reed\, author of New York Liberation School: Study and Movement for the People’s University. Reed will share their research on the legacy of Black\, Puerto Rican\, queer\, and feminist scholars and activists who taught and studied at CUNY in the 1960s and 1970s. The book talk will draw connections between CUNY’s radical history\, activism at CUNY Law\, and CUNY Austerity. We encourage event attendees interested in reading New York Liberation School to participate in CUNY Law and Political Economy Collective’s forthcoming reading group.
