SUMMARY:Basics of Navigating SSI & SSDI: Eligibility\, Appeals\, and What to Do if You Win (CLE)
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]This Continuing Legal Education (CLE) program presents an overview of the two federal long-term disability benefit programs administered under the Social Security Administration (SSA): Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI). This CLE will discuss the major differences between SSI and SSDI and review basic eligibility requirements for each program. We will review the entire complex process through initial application\, the layers of internal appeals\, and the administrative law judge (ALJ) hearing. Attendees will learn about SSA regulations\, best practice tips\, and practical guidance for issues that arise when a client wins this potentially life-changing benefit. The program will address trademark as a concept\, the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)\, navigating the USPTO website\, issue spotting and analyzing when certain protections may be viable and discussing scenarios where certain intellectual property protections intersect with the needs of folks in the solidarity economy.
