SUMMARY:Protecting the Rights of Incarcerated People: Legal Remedies and Limitations (CLE)
DESCRIPTION:This CLE will provide an overview of the rights of those incarcerated as well as possible remedies when those rights are violated including the use of Section 1983\, the federal disability statutes\, and New York law\, as well as their limitations. The Corcraft convict labor enterprise is a byproduct of New York’s codification of the “exception clause” of the 13th Amendment. Hear individuals who were formerly incarcerated share their experiences of mandated labor for for .25 per hour.
