DESCRIPTION:Receiving papers demanding your presence at housing court and the process that follows is a traumatizing and overwhelming experience. The power imbalance between landlords and tenants leads to many unrepresented tenants eventually being evicted or giving up rights and defenses they did not know they had. Join the Office of Student Affairs and the Housing Rights Project as we welcome Manhattan Legal Services’ (MLS) housing unit on this Know Your Rights information session. You’ll learn from MLS on how to level the field by walking through the housing court process and delving into resources and potential defenses available to all tenants across New York City.   \n
