Trump Admin, Columbia Must Face Student Speech Claims

Zal K. Shroff, an assistant professor at CUNY School of Law and another lawyer for the plaintiffs, said Columbia “has made a Faustian deal.”

“It has ensured its own financial health by agreeing to muzzle its students’ self-expression or arrestthem into compliance,” Shroff said in the statement. “But the U.S. Constitution forbids that kind of callous capitulation. Pre-compliance with authoritarianism has consequences.”
