Access to CUNY Law for News Media
We encourage members of the news media to share news about our community of innovative education, scholarship, public interest advocacy, and mission-driven efforts to expand access to legal education. We also respect the privacy of students, faculty and staff, both in principle and as a matter of legal responsibility.
Procedures
Because CUNY Law is a public institution, our guidance for news media is designed to provide access to our faculty, staff, and students with minimal disruption to the core functions of the Law School and with consideration to the integrity of our commitment to academic freedom, First Amendment rights, and the privacy of members of our campus community.
Non-CUNY Law entities and individuals — including the news media — require permission to come on campus to capture still or video images and require an escort of an appropriate representative of the University.
We ask that all members of the news media interested in coming onto campus, capturing images, or conducting interviews within the Law School:
- Connect with the Office of Communications & Marketing before entering campus. Please email elise.billing@law.cuny.edu
- Filming or image capture for commercial, advertising, or entertainment purposes can be requested through the Events Office whose staff will consult with the Office of Communications & Marketing. Granted requests may be subject to space rental and/or cancellation fees, indemnification agreements and insurance waivers, and an agreement with CUNY Law’s name use policy.
