Pandemic Related Resources for Homelessness and Eviction Protection, Omicron and Housing Inequality

This session will cover the main pandemic-related federal funding streams as well as local legal protections dedicated to addressing homelessness and housing instability.

Presenters will give a local snapshot of the current situation in NY Housing court and the legal tools being utilized to support New Yorkers in need. Presenters will then provide a general overview of homelessness and anti-eviction policies and will discuss the systemic racial inequity made so evident in the Covid-19 Pandemic. The CLE will also describe best practices in providing legal services to people experiencing housing crises.

  • Mindy Mitchell ‘12, National Alliance to End Homelessness;
  • Katie Redmon ’13 the Legal Aid Society.

This program offers 3 CLE credits: 2 profs. practice, .5 ethics, and .5 diversity.

This CLE program is approved for both experienced and newly admitted attorneys. Under Continuing Legal Education regulations, CLE credit will be offered only to those attorneys completing entire sessions; attorneys attending only part of a session are not eligible for partial credit. Attorneys arriving late are welcome to attend the program but will not be eligible for credit.

Please also note the CLE program will be conducted remotely. You must use a computer to see the presentation and the attendance verification codes, so attorneys may NOT get credit for audio-only. Phone connection will be available solely to assist those whose computers do not have working speakers.
