The building continues to be open for faculty and staff by an appointment request at reservations@law.cuny.edu. The same process applies to bar exam takers for physically-distanced study from 9 AM to 8 PM, Monday to Friday. On October 5 & 6, the building will be closed to all students with the exception of those taking the bar exam.

Beginning Wednesday, Sept 23, all visitors may only enter the building between 9 AM – 11 AM, via confirmed appointment for which our screeners are available.

Take care to make accurate entries in the Everbridge app.  Data entered into the app is automatically part of a CUNY-wide report.  We are not permitted to let anyone enter who is denied entry through the app.  The app determinations are final without exception; we cannot let anyone into the building for two weeks (14 days) unless you arrive with a doctor’s note confirming a negative test result if the app showed a red check denying entry.

We remind everyone to abide by our Community Pledge. It is imperative that own health, and in turn one another’s health, be the top priority at this moment. It calls attention to the commitment we are making to each other to make our own health and the health of others a top priority by adhering to our building access policy.

In compliance with CUNY policy, anyone who tests positive for COVID-19 should self-report to coronavirus.coordinator@law.cuny.edu, even if you have not entered the building.

Our Reopening Plan has been expanded to include more detailed information about what constitutes Phases 1-4 of space access and operations. You can find detailed information in our updated Reopening Plan.

An update from our Coronavirus Coordinator Carolyn Geisel:

I wanted to give an update since our building re-opened in August.  While approved for opening last month, we just recently received approval for our plans for all phases of reopening.  I share the details of that plan with you here, also available on our website.  The safety of every member of our community is our top priority.  I thank the Re-Opening Task Force, Senior Leadership, Public Safety and Facilities, and key staff for their role in a successful re-opening.  We ask everyone to adhere to the terms of our Community Pledge and request a time to enter the building through our reservations@law.cuny.edu email.

Our website follows the outline developed by New York State, detailing general plans for: People, including physical distancing, gatherings in enclosed places, operational activity and movement of goods; Places, including protective equipment, hygiene, phased reopening and communications; Processes, including screening, testing, tracing and tracking; and Institutional Plans.  CUNY Law will closely monitor the implementation of the first phase and will modify the plan to pace and adjust the re-occupancy levels, as needed. The remaining phases will follow Phase I requirements and modify according, to safely and effectively incorporate the next phase into the CUNY Law’s operations plans. All reopening activities will be phased-in to allow for operational issues to be resolved before activities return to normal levels.  The return to full, normal operations will be a gradual and controlled process.

Each SLG member will work with their managers, in consultation with Human Resources and in accordance with the developing University-wide telework standards, to promote working remotely for all staff and faculty to the maximum extent possible.  The return-to-campus will be phased to allow sufficient time to ensure the return is efficient, effective, and in compliance with the requirements of the College. Each area must be prepared to slow, stop, or reverse the return to campus and promptly resume telework should the community health situation warrant.

Thank you.
