Congresswoman Lee has served California’s 13th District (now 12th District) since 1998 in the U.S. House of Representatives. She is the former chair of the Congressional Black Caucus and a founding member of the LGBTQ+ Equality Caucus. She was a fierce critic of the Iraq War, the only Congressperson to vote against the authorization of force following the September 11 attacks and continues to work with other members of Congress to repeal the authorizations. Congresswoman Lee recently introduced the Marijuana Justice Act and co-chairs the Cannabis Caucus. She is an advocate for abortion rights, economic justice, and abolition of the death penalty.
Jenkins hosts “Black America,” a CUNY TV show, and serves as a director of the ERA Coalition. She is former President and CEO of the Coalition and the Fund for Women’s Equality, organizations dedicated to the enactment of the Equal Rights Amendment, and was Founding President of The Women’s Media Center.
