Dyvonia Burgos is the Interim Bar Support Program Director and Instructor at CUNY School of Law, where she leads bar preparation and licensing initiatives with a data‑informed, student‑centered approach. She teaches CORE, a skills‑based bar preparation course for graduating students, and oversees the school’s bar mentoring program, connecting students with alumni and faculty for writing support and overall bar readiness.
She administers CUNY Law’s donor‑funded bar grants and supports recipients throughout their study period. Each bar cycle, she advises more than 150 students and implements targeted interventions for CUNY Law’s diverse student body. She has also integrated mental‑health resources into bar support as part of her holistic pedagogy.
Under her leadership, bar passage rates have risen, retaker outcomes have consistently met or exceeded New York State averages, average bar essay scores have continue to increase by more than 10 points since 2023, and CORE enrollment has grown significantly. She manages institutional partnerships with major bar preparation providers and is a frequent invited speaker on bar readiness, including for the Northeast Black Law Students Association.
A former practicing attorney in Washington, D.C., Professor Burgos holds a B.A. in Sociology and is committed to mentorship, equity, and expanding diversity within the legal profession.
