Students Lead Movement to Remove Criminal History Question from CUNY Law Application

In response to a call to action from student advocates, CUNY Law has expanded its access mission for justice-impacted people: application to the Law School will no longer ask students about any criminal history, making it the second law school in the country to do so.

Please join us in congratulating six CUNY Law students — Xhoana Ahmeti, Amanda Jimenez, Nicolette Moore, Elizabeth Pudel, Heather L. Ramirez, and Hugh Schlesinger — who are awarded 2022 Peggy Browning Fellowships for their commitment to workers’ rights through their previous educational, work, volunteer, and personal experiences.

Student Reachelle Ramirez, currently a 2L and Co-Director of LALSA, and Interim Dean Eduardo R.C. Capulong ’91 are featured in PreLaw Magazine’s exploration of what diversity means when we go beyond numbers and consider the matter at the heart of justice.

Cesar and a coalition of lawyers, non-profit organizations, academic institutions, and representatives of local and state government will empower military immigrants and their families as they navigate law.
