CUNY LAW RANKS FIRST IN U.S. FOR PUBLIC INTEREST JOBS
Law school has the largest percentage of graduates working in public interest law in the nation.
Long Island City, NY (May 31, 2016) —CUNY School of Law tops the nation’s law schools for placing graduates in public interest jobs, according to a report in the National Law Journal.
In a recent article, the publication analyzed employment rates for 2015 law school graduates for various criteria, including placement in permanent, full-time government and public interest jobs. According to the article, and information reported to the ABA, nearly 50% of CUNY Law graduates from 2015 found work in public interest law.
“This recent #1 ranking highlights that CUNY Law continues to live up to its mission to enhance the diversity of the legal profession and graduate outstanding attorneys intent on creating change for the better,” said CUNY Law Dean Michelle J. Anderson. “Our students enter CUNY Law committed to public service and we provide them with excellent legal training to enter the legal field and serve underrepresented communities.”
Among those students is Nishan Bhaumik (’15), an Equal Justice Works Fellow with the New York Anti-Violence Project whose work focuses on providing legal services related to domestic violence issues.
