Daniela Robles ’28
CUNY Law congratulates Daniela Robles ’28 on being selected for the Dominican Bar Association’s 2025 Law Student Scholarship. Her work focuses on the interaction of criminal and immigration law, commonly known as “crimmigration,” which she has identified as her area of passion and expertise.
Robles, a second-year evening student at CUNY School of Law, currently works full-time at Neighborhood Defender Service of Harlem, where she counsels and represents clients navigating complex criminal and immigration matters as a DOJ Fully Accredited Representative. Prior to attending law school, Robles dedicated over a decade to working with community-based organizations and public interest firms to challenge anti-immigrant policies and practices in neglected communities. Her grassroots organizing experience includes mobilizing tenants in Harlem and Washington Heights against gentrification and landlord harassment, demonstrating her commitment to supporting working-class communities.
“I chose CUNY Law because of its mission to train lawyers who serve communities in struggle,” Robles explained. “For me, becoming a lawyer is about supporting working-class and everyday people and the movements they build towards a more just society. My current passion lies in crimmigration, where I see how the criminal and immigration systems combine to disproportionately harm immigrant and working-class communities, and I am committed to using the law to challenge those injustices.”
The Dominican Bar Association annually awards scholarships to eligible law students in support of the next generation of attorneys committed to serving their communities.Learn more about the Dominican Bar Association’s 2025 Law Student Scholarship and application requirements on their website.
We extend our sincere congratulations to Daniela Robles on this award.
