On November 16-17, 2023, the Institute on Law, Gender, and Transformative Peace hosted its first Global Forum event.
The Institute welcomed scholars, organizers, and grassroots peace activists from around the world to CUNY School of Law to discuss transformative peace, cross movement-building strategies, and documentation practices.
The convening was focused on closed workshops with representative movement leaders, scholars, and experts from nine countries. The focuses of their gender justice work ranged from gender-based violence, racial justice, human rights, environmental justice, LGBTQI+ rights, reproductive justice, abolition work, healing justice, immigration, and women, peace, and security. The perspectives raised and feedback given during the workshop will directly inform the Institute’s work and priorities moving forward.
