Director, Academic Support, 2L PT Evening Program and Assistant Professor of LawAsima Chaudhary is the 2L Evening Skills Instructor at the Irene Diamond Professional Skills Center, which provides academic support to CUNY students through a variety of programs and services. Prior to joining CUNY School of Law, Asima was a Legal Policy Fellow with the New York City Commission on Human Rights (CCHR) Office of the Chair. In addition to handling Source of Income discrimination complaints, she researched legal issues pertaining to discrimination in housing, education and policing in New York City. Professor of LawShirley Lung, Professor of Law, is a graduate of Cornell University and received her J.D. from New York University School of Law, where she was a Root-Tilden Scholar. Before coming to CUNY Law, she was Executive Director of the Center for Immigrants' Rights, an organization that advocated for the rights of immigrant workers through policy reform and educational training for unions and service providers. Shirley continues to work with independent workers’ centers to address wage exploitation, mandatory overtime, and joint employer accountability for sweatshop conditions, affecting garment, restaurant, construction, and home care workers in New York City. Director, Academic Support, 1L PT Evening ProgramLaura Mott is the Director of Academic Support for the 1L Evening Program at CUNY School of Law. Laura teaches Skills, 1L Lawyering, and has served as a bar mentor in CUNY’s Bar Support program since 2012. She has also taught legal writing and academic skills courses in the New York State Court System’s Legal Education Opportunity (LEO) Program, designed to prepare incoming law students for their first semester of law school. She has presented on best practices for designing academic support programs for part-time and evening students and on issues related to associated general evening curriculum design and execution. Prior to teaching, Laura worked at the New York Environmental Law & Justice Project, represented tenants facing eviction in NYC housing courts, and managed large discovery projects for complex civil litigation matters. Laura holds a B.A. from Rutgers University, Douglass College, a J.D. from CUNY School of Law, and an LL.M cum laude in Environmental Law from the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University. Director, Academic Support Programs & Visiting Professor of LawDavid Nadvorney has been involved in providing academic support in higher ed for over 40 years. He started at CUNY Law School in 1983, as a student in the inaugural class. During law school, David helped found a writing assistants program, working with first-year students, and writing a weekly column for the National Law Journal summarizing opinions from state high courts around the country.
