Since April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, we will host a Denim Day clothesline project in the Beacon where the Law School community can write motivational messages of encouragement, advocacy, and allyship for survivors of Sexual Assault with a focus on survivors who identify as LGBTQ+. The community will also be encouraged to wear denim on this day. We’ll also display information about Denim Day such as history, what it stands for, etc. This is an all-day project with no formal program behind it. Breakfast (10:00 AM) and lunch (1:30)will be served.
On the same day, from 4-5 PM, we’ve booked room 1-204 for a Take Back the Night type event where we will host an open forum, poster board-making, and a walk around the school with the poster boards. The focus will be on raising awareness and building empowerment for LGBTQ+ survivors. Following the walk, participants should attend “Decriminalizing Queerness in the Community Room from 5-7 PM.
