NYC Charter and Administrative Code (New York State Legislature site)
Online versions of the NYC Charter and Adminstrative Code can be found by going to the New York State Legislature page. Under “Search,” select “Laws of New York,” then go to the “Miscellaneous” category at the bottom of Laws of New York page for the links.
Provided through the NY City Council’s Legislative Research Center page. Local laws, hearing transcripts, reports, Mayor’s messages, resolutions, and other types of documents can be searched by keyword on the first screen using boolean connectors (see help link). The “advanced search” link provides more options, including searching by law number and sponsor. Local Laws are available going back to 1968, but coverage for other types of documents varies. For additional legislative history, contact the Speaker’s office and try to obtain the Council bill jacket. There may also be a mayoral bill jacket at the Office of City Legislative Affairs or the Municipal Archives.
