CUNY Law hosted an incredibly informative panel discussion on The First Amendment, Censorship, and Higher Education, presented by our Faculty Professional Development Committee.

We were honored to welcome Lee Rowland, Executive Director of the National Coalition Against Censorship and accomplished attorney with extensive experience at the American Civil Liberties Union, the Brennan Center for Justice, and the NY Civil Liberties Union. Lee joined Professor Zal Shroff of our Equality and Justice Clinic, a distinguished civil rights lawyer and lead attorney in over two dozen impact cases addressing First Amendment protest rights, political speech, and discrimination.

The CUNY Law community came together for this vital dialogue, with faculty, students, and staff engaging in thoughtful discussion about where our community stands on these critical issues. We are deeply grateful to Lee Rowland for sharing her expertise and insights with us.

As we continue these important conversations, we move forward together with respect and support for one another, committed to fostering a community where all perspectives can be heard and valued.
