Dear CUNY Law Community,
On July 9, Chancellor Matos Rodríguez shared a message with the CUNY community reporting on the results of the vaccination survey and encouraging those who have not been vaccinated to do so. I write to echo this sentiment and message to our Law School community students, faculty, and staff.
The survey results showed that CUNY community members are doing their part to get vaccinated in order to return safely to a post-pandemic learning environment, where we once again can work together and learn in-person in our classrooms. This is our ultimate goal, but we still have work to do. While the percentage of vaccinated individuals in the community is higher than the national average—and we should be commended for that—this is exactly the moment to keep pushing forward to increase those percentages. In the case of vaccinations and COVID-19, not moving forward is moving backward.
If you have not already, I encourage you to find your nearest vaccination location and get your shot. Getting vaccinated against COVID-19 is a vital step toward protecting your own life and the lives of those around you. The available vaccines have proven to be highly effective in preventing individuals from becoming seriously ill or dying from COVID-19 infections. Research has shown this is also true for the Delta variant that is now the most common strain of COVID-19 in the New York City area.
Below please find key information and resources as we approach the beginning of classes on August 25:
- Students attending fall classes in person at the Law School must be vaccinated and provide proof of vaccination. For more information about where and when to upload proof of vaccination, visit the VAXUpCUNY Student Vaccination FAQ.
- Students participating in other on-campus activities will be required to show proof of vaccination or proof of a negative COVID-19 test at least 7 days before entering campus.
- VAXUpCUNY Information on CUNY requirements and policies.
- Vaccine locations in New York City.
- Vaccinations in your home in New York City.
- Vaccine locations outside of New York City.
- COVID-19 information from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and New York State Department of Health.
If you have any questions, please do reach out to the Law School Corona Virus Coordinator at coronavirus.coordinator@law.cuny.edu.

Sincerely,
Eduardo R.C. Capulong ’91
